Overview and Responsibilities

Saint Mary’s University is seeking a Core Faculty member in the PsyD in Counseling Psychology Program who is eager to contribute to Saint Mary’s Lasallian Catholic mission of awakening, nurturing, and empowering learners to ethical lives of service and leadership. The APA-accredited PsyD in Counseling Psychology program is a thriving and successful program with a collegial and supportive faculty team, successful student outcomes, and training aims involving social justice, ethical practice, and cultural humility. This full-time position begins May-August 2025 and involves teaching doctoral-level courses to cohorts of approximately 14-16 students as well as chairing clinical dissertations. The preferred candidate for this position will be an excellent teacher and advisor with strong quantitative research skills. Preferred quantitative skills include proficiency in study design ranging from experimental, quasi-experimental and correlational, ability to ground research projects in clinical practice and ethos of psychology, and competence to supervise statistical procedures (most commonly used statistics include multiple regression, ANOVA, and t-tests). 

The standard teaching load is defined as 18-20 equivalent credit hours per 12-month contract year, with release time to conduct independent clinical practice. Core faculty are responsible for maintaining the academic integrity of the program and play an essential role in curriculum development and review, supervision and evaluation of students, assessment of program outcomes, and development of program objectives. In addition to teaching, core faculty participate in the development and assessment of qualifying examinations, supervise clinical dissertation research, and advise and mentor doctoral students. Candidates must have training/experience for the supervision of quantitative dissertation research and potential to achieve excellence in teaching.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following credentials and experience: 

 

  • An earned doctorate in psychology from an APA accredited program, with completion of an APA accredited internship. 
  • Doctoral level license or license eligibility as a psychologist in the state of Minnesota.  
  • Experience in higher education which includes teaching, program development, and/or administration.
  • May consider other acceptable equivalent combinations of training and experience.
