Overview and Responsibilities
Saint Mary's University of Minnesota invites ongoing applications for adjunct faculty to plan and teach assigned courses in one or more disciplines for which they are qualified, and to support a range of current or potential course needs in our undergraduate curriculum. Employment as an adjunct faculty member is based on individual course assignments and contracts will align with the needs of the College from semester to semester.
We seek qualified adjuncts for a variety of undergraduate disciplines, including: Biology, Business, Communication Studies, Geography, History, Political Science, and other disciplines. In addition, we seek individuals with the ability to teach first-year College Composition. Instructors from other disciplines are also welcome to apply.
Teaching opportunities may exist online or in a blended format at our Winona, MN campus. Most in-person courses are taught during regular business hours, and most online courses are offered asynchronously.
Applicants are preferred who can demonstrate a commitment to advancing Saint Mary’s Lasallian Catholic identity and mission, interdisciplinary teaching and learning, the integration of the liberal arts within the professions, methods of character and virtue education, the holistic residential campus experience, and/or the Catholic Intellectual Tradition in relation to their discipline.

Physical Demands
[X] Sedentary work. Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.
[ ] Light work. Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a good deal of walking or standing, or when it involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls. To be considered capable of performing a full or wide range of light work, you must have the ability to do substantially all of these activities.
[ ] Medium work. Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
[ ] Heavy work. Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
